Questions about the Palace of Versailles


Is there a 'package deal' which includes tickets to the Palace and a night in a hotel?

Yes, we are now selling packages with a Passeport 1 day + a night at the hotel. We also sell packages with several different activities.

Can I bring a dog into the Palace of Versailles and the Gardens?

No, you cannot bring a dog into the Palace of Versailles, or into the Gardens. However, you can bring a dog into the Park, if it is on a lead. You must enter the Park via the Queen's Gate or the Sailors' Gate.

Can I leave luggage at the Palace of Versailles?

There is a left-luggage service at the Palace, but only cabin suitcases can be accepted. Otherwise, you can leave your luggage at the Ibis hotel. This service is subject to availability.

The left-luggage service at the Palace and the Ibis hotel are currently closed because of the Covid-19. There is currently no place where to leave your suitcase. The Tourist Office cannot take responsability for keeping them either.

Are tickets required for children?

No, a national identity card/passport, or a digital copy of it, is sufficient.
However, there is a charge if you want to visit the gardens during the Musical Fountains and Musical Gardens :
Musical Fountains : €10,00 
Musical Gardens : €10,00
Free : from 0 to 5 years old


Are the Palace Gardens open on Mondays?

Yes, although the Palace and Trianon's Estate are closed, the Palace Gardens and the Park are open and admission is free. 

On what days is entry to the Palace Gardens free of charge?
 
From the end of March until the end of October:The gardens are free of charge on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. An entrance fee of €8.50 is charged on Tuesdays and Fridays as the Musical Gardens are open, and an entrance fee of €9.50 is charged on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays as the Musical Fountains Show is on.
From the beginning of November until the end of March:
The gardens are free of charge every day.

Are the Palace Gardens open on 1 May?

The Palace and all of the estate, including the gardens, are closed on 1 May.

What are the conditions for free admission to the Palace, Trianon's Estate, or the Palace Gardens?
 
In most instances, admission is free for all minors regardless of nationality, all EU residents under the age of 26, job seekers, disabled people, and the person accompanying them. However, there are many other instances where admission is free. For the Palace Gardens, admission is free for children under the age of 5 and holders of the following memberships: Château Versailles Spectacles, A year in Versailles – Single or Duo ticket and Friends of Versailles.
Proof is required and will be checked at the different entrances.


What are the opening days and hours for the Palace Gardens?
 
In low season the gardens are open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (last admission is at 5.30 p.m.).In high season they are open from 8 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. (last admission is at 8 p.m.).
They are open every day except the 1st of May.


What are the admission fees for the Palace of Versailles and the Palace Gardens?

The admission fees are as follows: The Palace of Versailles: €19,50
Palace Gardens: Musical Fountain Shows Full-price ticket €9.50, reduced rate €8; Musical Gardens: Full-price ticket €8.50, reduced rate €7.50.

Questions about shows at the Palace of Versailles

​Do tickets have to be booked far in advance for the Musical Fountains Show? Is there a limited number of places?

No, because the Musical Fountains Show takes place in the Palace Gardens. Places are not limited, so you don't need to book far in advance.

 

Questions about the town of Versailles

Where is there a bureau de change in Versailles? 

- You can find a bureau de change in Versailles. It is Godot & Fils located at 26 Avenue de Saint Cloud, open from Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 6pm.

Do you organise tours with greeters?

Yes, you can book a tour with a greeter by clicking here.

Where can I find public toilets?

You will find public toilets in three different points in the city : on the marketplace next to the Carré à la Farine, on the avenue de l'Europe next to the bus station, and nearby Saint-Louis cathedral. Their localisation is indicated on the city maps you can get for free at the Tourist Office and dowload on our website, in the 'Brochures' section.

Where can I find Wifi?

You will find wifi at the Tourist office, at the town hall and in all the city train stations. On the way of your visit to the Palace, you will also find wifi in the courtyard of the Palace and at the entrance of the gardens.

Where can I park my camper van?

Camper vans can be parked at the Europe car park during the day. However, you can't stay overnight - you need to go to Camping Huttopia at 31 Rue Berthelot, Versailles.

Where can we hire bikes? How much does it cost?

Bike rental is only available in the Park of the Palace of Versailles. You may not leave the grounds of the estate with rental bikes. Bike rental costs are €9 for one hour or €21 for the day.

Is there a municipal camp site in Versailles?

No, there is only one camp site in Versailles, and that's Huttopia. For information on different accommodation options and prices, please contact them directly.

How do I get to Versailles from Paris?

There are three train stations in Versailles.- Trains arriving into Versailles Rive Droite station depart from Paris Saint Lazare station.
- Trains arriving into Versailles Chantiers station depart from Paris Montparnasse station.
- The RER C (Paris suburban rail system) stops at several Paris stations and arrives at Versailles Château Rive Gauche station.
