Château de Versailles
  • King Louis the XIVth is reputed to have organized the biggest festivals in Europe! The exhibition presents these extraordinary performances that took place at Versailles.

As a political monarch, King Louis the XIVth was able to make Versailles a place of festivals and shows of extreme grandeur, extraordinary and fantastic.

Celebrations were punctuating the Court of the Sun King. All grander than the other, the King had understood the magnitude of these shows. Entertain his court, amaze the kingdom and make the whole Europe dream, such were the political interests of the sovereign.

The exhibition "Fêtes et Divertissements à la Cour" shows the infinite variety of entertainment offered to the Court : public performances, comedies, operas, concerts, lights and illuminations but also private performances when major characters such as the King himself, mounted on the boards.

From Louis the XIVth to the Revolution, browsing history through 3D images and immersive scenes set to discover the missing places and imagine being invited, for a short moment, at the Court of Versailles.
