Presentation

The Ensemble Jubilate de Versailles has included this concert in the continuity of its historical programming, with a theme based on the figures of Emperor Charles I and his wife, Empress Zita of Habsburg.
At a time when Europe is witnessing the shattering of its 1945 borders, as well as those of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire in 1918 at the end of the First World War and those resulting from the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1991, these two figures offer us a symbol of union and peace.
In partnership with the League of Prayer of the Blessed Emperor Charles of Austria for the Peace of Peoples and the Association for the Beatification of Empress Zita, each concert will be a way of paying tribute to and supporting this double cause.

The programme includes the ingenious and undeniably beautiful Requiem ZWV 46 by Zelenka and Dixit Dominus RV 807 by Vivaldi.
Vivaldi is no longer a household name, but the Bohemian composer Zelenka, a contemporary of the Venetian, was forgotten immediately after his death. His style is one of surprising compositional mastery and harmonic creativity. Fortunately, it is now time for his rediscovery, which redraws the portrait of a fascinating composer.
