Presentation

Abutting the King's Kitchen Garden, a little farther to the south, there is a pleasant public garden named Parc Balbi.
COVID Information:

Parc Balbi is open to the public according to the following guidelines:

Physical distances must be respected and groups must not exceed 10 people. Wearing a mask is recommended as in the rest of the public space. Picnics are allowed, as well as sitting on the lawns, under strict conditions of respect of sanitary rules (less than 10 people, physical spacing, respect of barrier gestures). Individual sports are allowed, but team sports remain prohibited. This is the garden of the property developed in 1785 by J.-F. Chalgrin for the countess of Balbi, the mistress of the Count of Provence, who was Louis XVI's brother.

Nothing remains of the buildings, but the park still has its stream, its belvedere and its vast grotto, set in the greenery so characteristic of Eighteenth Century English-style gardens.
