Presentation

Located in the Grande Écurie, Campus Versailles is a centre for training, practice and exchange dedicated to heritage and crafts. It promotes 5 areas of excellence: arts and crafts, gastronomy, built heritage, horticulture and landscaping, cultural tourism.
Inaugurated in 2021 in the heart of the Grande Écurie at the Château de Versailles, the Campus Versailles is a place of learning, practice, exchange and reflection dedicated to heritage professions and crafts of excellence. It is active in 5 areas that embrace the richness and excellence of our heritage: built heritage, art and design, horticulture and landscaping, gastronomy and cultural tourism.

A joint initiative of the Château de Versailles, the Académie de Versailles, CY Cergy Paris Université and the Ile-de-France Region, with the support of the Secrétariat Général Pour I'Investissement (SGPI), the Fondation Bettencourt Schueller and the Fondation Engie, as well as the support of the Ministère de la Culture, the Ministère de l'Enseignement Supérieur and the Région Ile de France for the works, the Campus Versailles is a collective, innovative and multi-partnership project that brings together the players: businesses, professional sectors, local authorities, government departments, public and private training operators, all united around a strong conviction: heritage and craft trades have a major role to play in building the world of tomorrow. To help young people achieve their full potential, and to develop vocations and businesses, the centre offers training courses with an innovative teaching approach that emphasises practical experience, collaboration, knowledge of sectors and materials, and shared workshop spaces.

Currently operating on a pilot site of 1,000m2, the Versailles Campus is currently undergoing a works programme that will see it occupy the two wings of the Grande Écurie by 2026, representing 6,000m2 of space dedicated to training courses, exhibitions, artisans' residences and an application restaurant.

The Campus has 4 key missions to promote and support the renewal of these sectors: training, guidance, showcasing and community development.

TRAINING THROUGH PRACTICE AND EXPERIENCE
Through practice and experience, the Campus aims to train a new generation of excellent craftsmen who take account of environmental and managerial issues. It already offers around ten initial and continuing training courses, supported by a network of public and private educational partners. The specific methodology of the Campus is based on the co-construction of training programmes by different players. These courses meet two major challenges: on the one hand, to enable young people to find out about careers before moving on to specialised training, thanks to one-year preparatory class-type programmes; on the other hand, to revive specialised training courses that have disappeared in sectors in short supply. Each course offers individualised support for learners through a mentoring programme, meetings with professionals and guidance meetings.

Existing courses:
- A university diploma (DU) in "Design and wood trades", with CY Cergy Paris Université
- Construction and Heritage Professions", with CY
- A diploma course in 'Traditional plastering techniques'.
- Two PassSup schemes in tourism and gastronomy to encourage students taking vocational courses to continue their studies
- A career transition programme, "Becoming a craftsman", with Artisans d'Avenir
- Summerschools, where students and researchers can take part in week-long programmes to learn more about excellent craft trades.

At the start of the 2023 academic year:
- Prépa MAX, a preparatory class for excellence in arts and crafts, in partnership with the Académie des Métiers d'Art in Pantin.
- A trilingual DU in international tourism, in partnership with CY
- Two innovative courses to raise awareness of craft skills for young people in difficulty in schools and academic circles, supported by the PRIC programme of the Ile de France Region
- A continuing education diploma in additive manufacturing dedicated to arts and crafts, in partnership with Paris Cité Université.

In addition to these, a number of programmes are being developed over the coming years, notably as part of the PIA 4 "Skills and professions of the future" programme, supported by the SGPI.

PROVIDING GUIDANCE AND INSPIRING VOCATIONS
Convinced that guidance is one of the key factors in academic success, the Campus is committed to deciphering, highlighting and explaining the diversity of training opportunities available in the region (school, higher education, apprenticeships, continuing and vocational training, etc.). It organises a number of general and themed career guidance forums throughout the year, offers one-to-one meetings with its career guidance coaches, and runs a number of schemes for schools:
- Les Lundis de la Voie Pro (Career Mondays), which every year welcome 300 secondary school pupils to spend a day learning about a particular career path at the Château de Versailles and the Campus.
- Les vacances apprenantes (learning holidays), a week-long educational programme combining cultural exposure, outdoor activities, professional immersion and community involvement
- The Manufacto, la fabrique des savoir-faire programme, run by the Fondation Hermès: a unique scheme to raise awareness of manual trades in schools, coordinated by the Campus in the Académie de Versailles. And at the start of the 2023 academic year, the Manuterra programme, a replica of the programme in the fields of horticulture and gardens.

SHOWCASING THROUGH A RICH PROGRAMME OF EVENTS
The Campus aims to inspire vocations among visitors, introduce young people to companies in the sector, and encourage encounters and inspiration through a programme of festivities, conferences, exhibitions, meetings and workshops. It takes part in major national events such as the European Heritage Days and the Journées des Métiers d'Art, and initiates innovative programming such as Fairespectives, a festival linking crafts and the ecological transition, or the Builders' Triathlon, a challenge based around crafts for those who enjoy a challenge.

ANIMATING THE CAMPUS COMMUNITY IN AN OPEN THIRD PLACE
The Campus is a third place for training, experimentation and encounters in the service of an innovative teaching approach that seeks to break down the barriers between different training environments. Pupils, students, professionals, companies and partner institutions are invited to take ownership of it, to run it, to work together on collaborative projects or simply to share convivial and creative moments. In this way, training organisations, craftspeople in residence and developing craft businesses will be able to move in, cohabit, innovate and co-construct programmes, which will then spread beyond the walls to irrigate the ecosystems and territories with these new models. The Campus will be responsible for leading this community and ensuring that its dynamics are based on collective intelligence and partnerships.
