Campus Versailles
Presentation
Campus Versailles is both a place and a network for discovering, practicing, and training in heritage and craft professions.
Inaugurated in 2021 in the heart of the Great Stables of the Palace of Versailles, Campus Versailles is a space for learning, practice, exchange, and reflection dedicated to heritage professions and the crafts of excellence.
Here, you can explore five sectors that encompass the richness of our heritage: built heritage, artistic crafts and design, horticulture and landscaping, gastronomy, and cultural tourism.
The result of a joint initiative by the Palace of Versailles, the Versailles Academy, CY Cergy Paris Université, and the Île-de-France Region, with the support of the General Secretariat for Investment (SGPI), the Bettencourt Schueller Foundation, and the Engie Foundation, as well as backing from the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Higher Education, Campus Versailles is a collective, innovative project with multiple partners. It brings together companies, professional groups, public institutions, and trainers, united by a shared conviction: heritage professions and craftsmanship play a key role in shaping the world of tomorrow.
To help you develop, inspire new vocations, and support businesses, the campus offers training programs with an innovative pedagogical approach, focused on practice, collaboration, knowledge of sectors and materials, as well as shared workshop spaces.
Currently housed in a 1,000 m² pilot site, the Campus is rapidly expanding. By 2026, it will occupy both wings of the Great Stables, with 6,000 m² dedicated to training, exhibitions, artisan residencies, and even a training restaurant.
The Campus has four key missions: to train, to guide, to showcase, and to energize the community.
TRAINING THROUGH PRACTICE AND EXPERIENCE
Through practice, the Campus seeks to train a new generation of master artisans who integrate environmental and management challenges. A dozen initial and continuing training programs are already offered, thanks to a network of public and private educational partners.
The co-construction of training programs among diverse stakeholders defines the Campus’s unique methodology. These programs pursue two main goals:
Allowing you to discover professions before committing to a specialization, through one-year “preparatory class” programs.
Reviving specialized training programs that have disappeared in sectors facing professional shortages.
Each training includes individual guidance, with mentoring, professional encounters, and orientation sessions.
Current programs include:
University Diploma (DU) Design and Woodworking Professions, with CY Cergy Paris Université
DU Construction and Heritage Professions with CY
Certified training in Traditional Plastering Techniques
Two Pass’Sup programs in tourism and gastronomy, encouraging further study after vocational training
Becoming an Artisan retraining program, with Artisans d’Avenir
Summer schools for students and researchers on crafts of excellence
GUIDING YOU AND SPARKING VOCATION
At the Campus, we believe that guidance is key to academic success. That’s why we help you understand and access all the training opportunities in the region (secondary school, university, apprenticeships, continuing education…).
We organize career fairs, personalized coaching sessions, and also bring activities into schools:
Vocational Training Mondays: every year, 300 high school students discover a specialty at the Palace and the Campus
Learning Vacations: a week combining culture, nature, professional experiences, and civic engagement
Manufacto Program, the Factory of Savoir-Faire, led by the Hermès Foundation: a unique experience to discover manual professions within schools
From 2023 onwards: Manuterra, a replica program dedicated to horticulture and gardening professions
SHOWCASING THIS WORLD THROUGH RICH PROGRAMMING
The Campus aims to spark a “click”—a vocation, a connection with companies in the sector, and opportunities for encounters—through a varied program of festivals, talks, exhibitions, and workshops.
We take part in major national events such as the European Heritage Days and the Arts & Crafts Days. We also create new formats, such as:
Fairespectives, a festival linking craftsmanship and ecological transition
Builders’ Triathlon, an artisanal challenge for those who love to test their skills
ENERGIZING A COMMUNITY IN AN OPEN AND LIVING SPACE
The Campus is a shared space for training, experimentation, and encounters, serving an open and innovative pedagogy.
As a student, professional, entrepreneur, artisan, trainer, or simply a curious visitor, you can join this community, propose activities, collaborative projects, or simply share creative moments.
This space will bring together trainers, developing businesses, residents, and artisans… all working together, sharing knowledge, and creating new educational and territorial models. The Campus fosters collective intelligence and collaboration.
If your passion is creating with your hands, preserving heritage, or innovating with skill and beauty, Campus Versailles opens its doors to you.
