Versailles Town Hall, from the Princess of Conti to today (guided tour in french)
Presentation
Spend the afternoon in the home of a princess – The Princess of Conti was one of the natural daughters of Louis XIV. Widowed at the age of 19, she spent a lot of time in her town house, organising parties, shows and promenades, attended by the Court and even the Sun King himself. In the 18th century, the residence and its gardens were left to the Duke of Bourbon. The magnificent collection of woodwork and paintings that can still be seen today dates from this period. At the dawn of the Revolution, the building became the town hall of Versailles, extended in 1900 into its current form.
