Presentation
The commune of Les Loges-en-Josas invites you to take a walk through its history, poetry and technology, and discover its rich natural and cultural heritage.
Starting at 9am, head to Petit-Jouy, along the banks of the Bièvre, to kick off this morning devoted to water and memory:
Saturday 14 June 2025 from 9am - Petit-Jouy station - Les Loges
Water stories: tracing the valley's industrial and social past
This exhibition, organised by the Friends of the Bièvre Valley (AVB), will take you on a journey through the history of the valley.
Then it's on to the ‘stories of water’, with visits to three emblematic sites that bear witness to a use of the river that has now disappeared:
The Moulin de Vauptain, first mentioned in 1393, was in turn a mill, a farm and a stud farm. Today, the owners will be revealing the secrets of this site, whose former building was partly destroyed by fire in 2019.
The Loges wash-house, once an essential meeting place for the women of the village, disappeared in 1951, but a basin fed by a crystal-clear spring remains.
The hydraulic merry-go-round, a private site exceptionally open for the occasion, will reveal the remains of an ingenious donkey system that operated a pump to supply the Fief des Renards water tower.
These three sites, steeped in history and charm, are marked with a red circle on the map below.
There is no timetable for getting there on foot. Guides will accompany you if you wish and tell you all about the site. Make sure you don't miss your time on the little train!
An audio heritage within earshot: a mini-train tour of the plateau
Thanks to the generous support of Lumens Box, a mini-train will take you to the plateau to discover eight new audio terminals installed in key locations in the village: Porte de Jouy, Fief du Renard, Place Louis Grenier, Saint-Eustache church, Porte des Loges, Ferme de l'Hôpital, Château des Côtes and Midori Japanese garden.
Each terminal, accessible at any time via a QR-code, will tell you the story of the corresponding site - a great way to rediscover the village in a different way, at your own pace.
A tribute to Hugues Krafft and the art of Japanese gardening
At 11.15am, the mayors of Jouy-en-Josas and Les Loges-en-Josas will unveil the commemorative panel and street sign for the ‘Chemin Hugues Krafft’ (formerly the Garenne des Loges path), renamed in honour of the founder of the Midori Japanese garden in 1883. This footpath extends the rue de Midori as far as the route des Loges.
The history of the garden will be told in front of the water tower that once fed its streams and waterfalls.
Note: to visit the Midori Japanese garden, don't forget to sign up for the Heritage Days!
