At the Musée de la Toile de Jouy in Jouy-en-Josas, Alice Riehl will unveil a solo exhibition entitled Herbarium Interior. Nature is where we live from 27 March to 24 May 2026.
The Musée de la Toile de Jouy is pleased to announce that contemporary French artist Alice Riehl, renowned for her monumental porcelain wall sculptures, will present her first museum exhibitions in spring 2026 through two concurrent projects in France, at the Musée de la Toile de Jouy, and in New York. Together, these exhibitions trace the poetic evolution of her artistic practice.
Inspired by pastoral and floral motifs, as well as mythological narratives from the museum's historical textile collections, the exhibition offers a contemporary reinterpretation of the visual language of Toile de Jouy in a porcelain installation. A monumental mural, designed specifically for the exhibition, transforms traditional decorative motifs into a living tableau where human and plant figures merge. The figures depicted are inspired by the stories of people the artist met and interviewed in New York during her residency at the Villa Albertine between April and June 2025.
