Discover the King's Kitchen Garden (Potager du Roi), one of the most remarkable historic gardens in Versailles. Created in 1683 by Jean-Baptiste de La Quintinie for King Louis XIV, this nine-hectare garden was designed to supply the royal table with exceptional fruits and vegetables while showcasing the excellence of French horticulture.
Stroll through this listed historic monument and explore its geometric layout, orchards and cultivated gardens. Today, the Potager du Roi preserves more than 750 varieties of fruit, vegetables and edible plants, combining centuries-old traditions with contemporary horticultural expertise.
The King's Kitchen Garden is also home to the National School of Landscape Architecture, where the art and science of gardens continue to be taught. Combining history, nature and outstanding heritage, it offers a peaceful and authentic experience just a short walk from the Palace of Versailles.
