The exhibition's central theme is to present diplomacy in action in international history since 1945. It condenses 80 years of history into a limited selection of landmark events, from the birth of the UN to the Paris Climate Conference (2015), which are emblematic and rich in lessons for our times. By combining archives and comic strips, the exhibition offers an insight into events through the immediate perception of diplomats, in reports intended solely for their own administration, as a counterpoint to the comic strips, which are highly subjective works by authors who drew inspiration for their visual narratives from these same events or contexts.
This exhibition is presented as part of “Nantes diplomatique!”, a week of exhibitions and meetings organised by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs to mark the 60th anniversary of its presence in Nantes.
