Pacarel, wants to stage an opera composed by his daughter. He hires a famous tenor from Bordeaux. But in place of the artist, it is the young son of his friend Duffausset, who came to Paris for his law studies, who arrives at his home. Victim of a misunderstanding, Pacarel takes him for the singer and makes him sign a contract. Things get complicated when the young man falls in love with Pacarel’s wife (thinking she is someone else), while Pacarel’s daughter falls in love with him and refuses to marry the fiancé chosen by his father.
