This final exhibition of the season focuses on black and white. Various techniques will be showcased, including engraving, wash drawing, drawing, ceramics and photography.
Black and white creates an aesthetic of incredible depth and power: it highlights contrasts, shapes and textures, and allows artists to focus on the essentials.
Artists also play with shades of grey, creating effects of depth, volume and texture. Black and white is the meeting of light and shadow, the interplay of light and dark, fullness and emptiness. The world in black and white is ultimately much vaster than we imagine: it can be both highly graphic and contrasting, as well as poetic and subtle.
Beyond its aesthetic qualities, black and white evokes duality. It invites us to reflect on the contrasts of life, to see the world from a different angle, to appreciate the beauty of simple things and to immerse ourselves in the richness of hidden nuances.
