Follow the king's day in the magnificent palace he had built for himself. From his rising (lever) to his going to bed (coucher), he is surrounded by courtiers and, like them, submits to the etiquette that governs Court life. The schedule for this day includes the morning work with his ministers, the public dinner, the entertainments...
Middle school
Follow in the footsteps of Louis XIV, the great builder king, and discover his magnificent palace, a lifelong construction project! Decipher the ceilings populated with mythological scenes and metamorphoses. Around the sun god Apollo is ordered a procession of deities: Venus, Hercules, Diana... The guide tells the children a few episodes drawn from this imaginary world.
High school
Following in the footsteps of the courtiers and diplomats of the royal era, high school students explore the state rooms designed by Louis XIV as the image of his power: the richness of the decorations and the meaning of the mythological paintings, just like the evocation of the festivities and the king's day, highlight the mechanisms of absolute monarchy...
