Now home to the Versailles Chamber of Commerce, the building has retained its magnificent decorative features and remarkable works of art linked to the last mistress of Louis XV. It provides the perfect setting to discover the extraordinary yet short-lived rise of Jeanne Bécu, who became Madame du Barry and reached the highest ranks of the French court. Here, she famously hosted a lavish reception before her dazzling career came to a tragic end on the guillotine at the age of 40.
