Villa Viardot - Concert: Laura Granero, Job ter Haar and the Fanny Davies Ensemble

The Villa Viardot hosts a special concert exploring the musical legacy of Clara Schumann and the women composers who emerged from her artistic circle. Pianist Laura Granero, cellist Job ter Haar and the Fanny Davies Ensemble invite you to discover a lesser-known repertoire spanning piano, song and chamber music.

The programme features Clara Wieck-Schumann, including a Suite from her Soirées musicales, Op. 6, as well as her Nocturnes, Mazurkas and Romanzas, Op. 22. The concert also presents works by several of her pupils and musical associates, including Mary Wurm, Alice Verne-Bredt and Adela Verne, with piano pieces, waltzes, lieder, lullabies and works for piano and cello.

One of the highlights is Mary Wurm’s Cello Sonata, edited by the Fanny Davies Ensemble and presented for the first time in France at Villa Viardot. Through this programme, the ensemble continues its research into Clara Schumann’s piano school and helps bring the work of women composers who have long remained in the shadows of music history back to public attention.
