Villa Viardot – Robert Schumann Piano Recital by Françoise Thinat

The Villa Viardot welcomes pianist Françoise Thinat for a recital dedicated to Robert Schumann, a composer who has accompanied her artistic career since its beginnings. A leading figure in French piano, she will perform three of Schumann’s emblematic works: the Abegg Variations, Op. 1, the Symphonic Études, Op. 13, and the Posthumous Variations, Op. 13.

The programme echoes her recently released album En chemin, which brings together works that have shaped her artistic journey. The Schumann pieces performed during this recital were also featured in a recording made in November 2025, alongside an early recording of Schumann’s Carnival, Op. 9 and Frédéric Chopin’s Sonata, Op. 58.

Drawing on the piano traditions of Marguerite Long and Alfred Cortot, Françoise Thinat also brings to her performances her experience of contemporary music and her longstanding commitment to the piano, notably through the Orléans International Piano Competition, which she founded.
