Join Françoise Thinat for a recital dedicated to Robert Schumann. The renowned pianist will perform the Abegg Variations, the Symphonic Etudes and the Posthumous Variations.
Françoise Thinat is dedicating a recital to Robert Schumann, a composer who has been a constant presence throughout her career as a pianist since her early days.
At the Villa Viardot, discover a selection of the German composer’s iconic works performed by this leading figure of the French piano scene: the Abegg Variations, Op. 1, the Symphonic Etudes, Op. 13, and the Posthumous Variations, Op. 13.
This programme echoes the album *En chemin*, recently released by Françoise Thinat, which brings together several works that have marked her artistic journey. The recording, made in November 2025 and centred on the Abegg Variations, the Symphonic Études and the Posthumous Variations, is accompanied in particular by an early recording from 1967 featuring Schumann’s *Carnaval*, Op. 9, and Frédéric Chopin’s Sonata, Op. 58.
As a heir to the pianistic traditions of Marguerite Long and Alfred Cortot, Françoise Thinat also draws on her experience of contemporary composition and her work with the Orléans International Piano Competition, which she founded, to enrich her interpretations.
An exceptional recital offering a fresh perspective on the music of Robert Schumann through the sensitivity and experience of a great pianist.
